2024 16U Girls Tryouts


Baseball Nova Scotia is pleased to announce Dean Lee as the Head Coach of the 16U/Canada Games Girls team. Dean has served as the 14U program coach the past two seasons and will bring valuable experience to the program. Joining Dean on the staff will be Rachel Crawford. A former Nova Scotia 16U Girls athlete herself, Rachel has been involved on the coaching side at the community and high performance levels the past several years. A third coach will be named at a later date.

 

The 2024 Provincial Girls Baseball Team will be holding open tryouts to identify players who will represent Nova Scotia at the Canadian National Championships in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from August 22nd to August 25th. Players selected to the 16U team will be expected to commit to playing a part time schedule in the Bluenose League as well as other team events, i.e. practices, exhibition games, tournament's, and strength training programs. 

A core team will be selected for workouts leading to final team tryouts in April. 


Age Eligibility: 2008 and later. Please note that those born in 2007 are considered overage but are still welcome to attend, as up to three overage players may be selected for the team. 

Tryout Cost: $30.00 per session (e-transfer - coachdeanlee@gmail.com - please include players name in the note) 

Tryout Requirements: Players are required to attend a minimum of 1 tryout and a maximum of 2 tryouts. If there are extenuating circumstances preventing an athlete from participating in one of the listed tryout dates, please contact coachdeanlee@gmail.com

Program Notes and Information: Players selected for the 16U Provincial Girls High Performance Program are expected to meet the time commitments for the team. The expected cost of the program is approximately $2100 per player including travel expenses, i.e. flights, hotel, transportation, and food for the National Championships. Opportunities to fundraise will be made available. 

Please note that players will be required to used a drop five bat for their hitting evaluation. 

Note* Players who attend the session on February 19th at the East Hants Dome will also be provided a time at One Last Rep beginning at 10:30 am for their hitting evaluation
